American White Pelican, Pelecanus erythrorhynchos: Viera Wetlands; Viera, Florida |
After my Ivory-bill reunion with Tim Gallagher at Bayou Deview in Arkansas, at the end of February, I headed south to Florida. My first stop was the Viera Wetlands. About 50 to 60 American White Pelicans were at the wetlands when I arrived. I spent two mornings photographing the pelicans as they flew to and from various water impoundments. I shot this image as the pelican was flying to a water impoundment to join a flock of feeding birds.
