Rose-brested Grosbeak, Pheucticus ludovicianus; Male (top), Female (bottom):
Horse Cove; near Gurley, Alabama
I shot these beautiful Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in my
backyard this after noon. Grosbeaks have
been moving through my area in North Alabama for almost two weeks now. A few days ago the females began to
arrive. The males are always the first
to arrive, but I have dozens of male and females at my feeders today. I love it when these birds arrive, and I hate
to see them go. I always look forward to
fall when they return.
