Downy Woodpecker, Picoides pubescens: Horse Cove; near Gurley, Alabama
The first day of spring was a
bit chilly here in North Alabama, but the previous couple of
weeks have been quite warm. Trees are leafing, with pear trees and redbuds in
full bloom. It seems like everything is at least two weeks early this
year. Looking forward to getting in the blind to photograph woodpeckers
over the next few weeks. The above downy was photographed last spring in
my backyard. Photography should be just
as good this year. Have a lot of
woodpeckers coming to my feeders.
