Pic of the Day


American Goldfinch, Carduelis tristis: Horse Cove; Gurley, Alabama

     This is a photo I took in the spring when the goldfinches molt into their spring plumage.  My summer goldfinches have now left and the winter flocks have not gotten here yet, but when the do get here, they will already be in their winter plumage.  I look forward to the flocks arrival and the bustling activity at my feeders.  I will have to wait until next spring to seem them in their beautiful breeding plumage.
