Pic of the Day

Roseate Spoonbill, Ajaia ajajaSaint Augustine Alligator Farm, Florida
Just another pretty face?  Well, that's debatable, but this is one of the most sought after birds for those visiting Florida. I shot this spoonbill at the natural rookery at the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida last March.  This bird is an adult in breeding plumage with roseate (rose-colored) wing coverts.  I did not make it to the rookery this past spring, but after coming across this image while looking for shots to post, I am eager to hit the rookery next spring. If you have never been to the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm, you should plan a trip.  It is a spectacle worth your time and effort.  March through May in my opinion is the best time to visit.  Maybe I'll see you there next spring.
